it is the last day of the year. honestly i feel pretty good about 2019. it was fulfilling, i achieved a lot. i made some friends and got closer to friends i already had, i expanded my music horizons so much, i feel like i grew a lot more as a person. im excited to see what 2020 has in store.

its definitely been slow this break, grinding out new music and such.
today was pretty good, you can tell because im actually writing this entry the day im making it. i spent yesterday night at my girlfriends house, so i was kinda relieved to wake up in my own bed today. nothing wrong with hers but i appreciate the alone time when i get it. after i took her to work i spent a bit of time talking with friends and napping, around 5 i decided to start practicing. now that i have double bass i can try playing fast songs. i tried playing four horsemen by metallica and it was alright. the timing is kinda wonky with some bits but i kinda get the general feel. played along to some fishmans song too. i also was trying to learn pachelbel’s canon in d on my keyboard, its a really pretty piece, maybe my fav piano piece of all time. i mostly got it but im still shite at keyboard so. anyways yeah after that i took a nap and woke up just in time to get ready to see my friends. we all went out to eat tonight and then we went to target and i got some pokemon cards. at the ‘strant i accidentally used my friend megan’s card to pay for my order which was 10$ more than hers and i felt really bad. they said they fixed it but if she doesnt get the money back ill just pay her. anyways yeah used my target gift cards to get the pokemon cards (one of the gift cards had 5 dollars. five fuckin dollars i didnt even know tht was possible). spent the rest of the night watching soul eater with my girlfriend. watching it reminded me of why i stopped watching anime with plots, theyre kinda cringey and annoying. good show but i always hated how over the top they were with stuff. then again its a like a kids/pre-teens cartoon so.
anyways i listened to this a long time ago and its a very hard album to grasp, for me at least. its like, the least-metal-metal-album ive ever heard. very good still. i think it could definitely be more engaging, they arent all beautiful is amazing and itd be nice to hear more shitわ like that. i think leave your body map has more of those, so ill go relisten to that again.

my friend asked to go see this with me and i actually enjoyed the first one so i said yeah. its actually pretty funny, i had a good time. i liked that they were able to kind of give a fresh spin on the last plot, but it felt kinda rocky going into it. it felt like i dragged on a bit but i dont think any part was unnecessary except some scenes between dwayne and kevin.

so christmas entry time!
spent the night at my dads christmas eve (we always have christmas at my dads in the morning). my brother woke me up super early which i wasnt happy ab haha. we ate some like eggs n french toast casserole (its not as gross as that sounds) and then we opened gifts. i got a bunch of small things, which i wasnt upset about, and a couple larger things. i got a book ive been wanting for a while, a complete collection of EE cummings’ poems. got like 3 shirts that are all kinda lame (one is of the last supper but everyones head is a panda and theyre playing beer pong) but i do appreciate the thoughts. got some like deodorant and some neon led lights for my room (that are actually really nice). my brother got a hoverboard that i rode for a while cuz its kinda fun. i used it to ride to my friends house to give him his present (got him “migos rap snacks” and an arianna grande shirt). it died halfway back so i had to walk in socks. also fell off it at one point and busted my toe so that sucked.
after i got back i went to my moms to do christmas there. the presents were marginally more exciting. stepdad got me a double bass pedal wgich i FUCKING LOVE and i got the entirety of lucky star on blu ray and dvd. i also got a bunch of cool clothes ive been wanting (cryptopsy and insect warfare hoodies) and terminal redux on vinyl. also got hella gift cards.
after that i played minecraft until our dinner was out, had vegetable lasagna and beans. really really good oh my gosh.
after THAT i went to my gf’s grandmas to be there for their christmas. it was a lot, they do a lot of inclusive games with the kids (which there were 11 of) so it just felt very long.
so yeah overall, pretty epic christmas!
so i listened to this in the morning. its cool, super aggro but idk seeing them live kinda makes this sound bad.

so i was like 45 min late to work which sucked but i got to spend 3 hrs at self checkout so that was epic, then got carts for a long time and didnt have to stay too late. hung out with breakfast club and then saw my gf after. good day overall despite the rocky beginning.
so i listened to a bunch of stuff but its already in the diary so im just gonna make this entry leaving meaning. i really just spent most of my free time fixing my 2019 top 10 and movin stuff around. this i felt i overhyped, which i think i did, but its still a 4.0. its hard to knock it down, i enjoy a lot of track here, but my main issues are his lyrics being really dumb sometimes, and how the songs really dont go anywhere, which isnt really bad (see phantom limb) but i just wish they had more to them. i guess if i had to really accurately rank it its like a 7.5 out of 10

so some catching up on my actual life: i forget what i say here but it doesnt hurt to repeat so: my friends (k, kemper, j, and payton) all started this breakfast club (a name we gave it) friend group and we’ve been grinding out 1am hangout sessions with eachother, because kemper always gets off at 1am we always hang then. we usually go to whataburger or ihop to hangout just because nowhere else is open at one fucking am. well recently kemper and i became better friends with our coworker megan and so we’ve been inviting her to join them. she is now in breakfast club and she has been coming to these regularly! shes very nice and very funny, her parents are both deaf so she taught us sign language which was really cool. she only works 8-4s tho so it really blows my mind why she agrees to these late as fuck hangouts. anyways yeah so thats kinda what i been doin

12 Strings of Christmas / Free Jazz Ensemble

so this one guy in sexual jeremy posted ab this show he was organizing, he got 12 guitarists together to preform christmas music and called it the 12 strings of christmas. he said that he was also opening for a free jazz ensemble that was “celebrating traditional free jazz via channeling the holy ghost and classic Christmas jingles”. it was just as whacky as it sounds.
out of the 12 guitarists, maybe 3 or 4 were actually tuned, and only about 7 could actually play guitar. it was very loud and very funny and very headache inducing. they only played like 4 songs but it was still really awesome. the free jazz act was fucking nuts, doing these soaring 20-30 minute pieces (one was 12 days of christmas) that went on for wayyy too long. we had to leave early bc we were all very tired listening to these guys haha.

ah yes. the debut. this had a lot of mixed results when it came out, but i was kinda ahead of the curve w it. most of it is basically a huge fuck you to current era edm back then and their primary b4ss dr0pp audience. that being said, still a ton of god damn bangers. resistance, boss mode, 404, give it up (which i actually kinda dislike), micropenis, and red dawn all go hard as fuck. the tracks where they try to stray from the bassdrup coulture are like edm trend machine, begin again (which is really really good tho), dimh, superstar (which is also good), and kaleidoscope. only a couple are huge flops (edm trend and dimh) but most are just meh. very funny at the time too to hear them shitわ on their audience.

went to go get gf and decided to listen to this, since like these guys used to be my fav band when i was younger and i remember id been waiting when trigger warning came out for new stuff from them. its uhh...
i cant say its disappointing, i expected this tbh. the first track is just ass, for sure. it picks up kinda where abandon ship/trigger warning left off, but like worse. 2nd song is kinda epic, its got the centipede shtick but its this really hilarious one ab genitals which made me go o.O and xD. the drop is kinda fye and i like the “eatin ass in the club like-“ sample, but something on this track is incredibly hollow feeling. like this like...loss of soul to it (lol.). death and desire is really pointless, just some “pop banger” style edm shitわ. last track tho...thats wherrr this ep’s at. this songs fucking nuts. wouldve loved to see this on trigger warning or even abandon ship, tho im not sure itd do as well on latter

woohoo! to austin!
the day was crazy. so my 3 friends and i were supposed to go all together but for some really...interesting... reason (not gonna get into it here) he was really mad at my other friend so he bailed last minute on us. so it was just me n my 2 friendz. my other friend was gonna drive then he got a ticket so i had to drive. it wasn’t actually too bad a drive, only 3ish hoursz.
we have this road trip playlist and the rule is that you press shuffle and you keep the playlist on THE WHOLE TRIP until you hear the song Brotherman Bill, then you can change it. its like a 12 hour playlist. unfortunately we never heard it, so i listened to 7 total hours of fucking trap music and shitpost core.
we went to a record store and i got tangerine reef on vinyl. its super cool i didnt know itd be 2 discs and the back of disc 2 has this awesome tangerine embossing. we then went to canes and met a friend of my friend’s.
concert was fuckin crazy! venue was so oooo big. the opening band show me the body had their singer get ARRESTED so they couldnt make it, got replaced w this girl SRSQ (sir-skew). she was cool, just like dream pop. the 2nd band, health, was really bad. “industrial rock” with like dreamy vocals god every song was the same. duaghters was great as always. huge pit, had a generally fun time. got my ankel fucked up in the pit but w/e

so decided to relisten AGAIN to this shit. god is it big. it feels longer than SAW2 but is like an hour shorter lol. so firstly i want to mention: shut the fuck up if yr talking ab aphex twin's music from an emotional perspective. aside from SAW1 and SAW2 his music carries no emotion, and you can even make the argument it doesnt on SAW2 with dick naming every single track sans one of them "untitled". i dont think he carries emotion in his music at all, not a bad thing, just what i think ab that.
anyways, i think the classical pieces are okay. they help break up the monotony that would plague this thing and some are very good, but most are just meh. the drill trakcks are alright. basically a small step up from ...I Care. im not gonna lie im really tired as of writing this im sure i have way more to say on this but i just cant right now i have to sleep. goodnight guys. oh yeah im going to austin tomorrow with friends hopefully i have fun

this, in contrast to stars of the lid, is exactly what ambient should be. very beautiful soundscapes and very engaging atmospheres n shit. whatever pretentious people say ab afx. monolithic in size but honestly i never felt bored or impatient with this. maybe on a couple of tracks, liketrack 20 or i think it was 21 was really eh. very amazing tho. this is def dick's most fleshed out, realized work to date.

so my friend plays in this band ting tang tina and she wanted me and a few of my friends to come to her show for protection since one of the bands has this like confirmed sexual predator that has hit on her. i think. idk she also missed us. fun show! their first ep is really meh cus like it isnt anything like crazily original or creative, its got fun moments doe. their new single is tight as hell doe. they are really fun live bc they have a much lofi-er sound which compliments them well and they are louder and their drummer is fucking nuts. he drums like hes in a hardcore band or soemething. he was the only dude sweating. they had this song that sounded like fishmans which i really liked. new album in like march or something epic.

got some taco bell on the way home and tried to listen to fushitsusha’s 1st but was upset so i didnt.
this is very good, the production on here is much more alive and present than on her preceding singles. i dont know how offten ill come back to this but it def is something ill keep in mind. one thing that really bugs me about bblgm bass and pc music stuff is how hard it tries to be new, i really wish shitわ like concret angel would just admit to being post-edm/post-complextro/post-brostep, like 100 gecs is, and just get to the drop. it feels like bgb and pcm artists try super hard to employ this le epic glitch filter on things to be new and original or something, but honestly id prefer they cut the crap and throw in a bass drop or some shitわ. thats my 2 cents.

finally came in the mail! so fuckin cool, hella pumped. was gonna listen to all of it while i finished my comp sci and pols hw but didnt have as much time as i thiught id had, so i just listened to side a and the bonus track. firstly, i cant be sure on exactly how different they all sound from the originals, its def like more full i guess idfk how to explain. but this bonus track...ohmy god. its got this hella fresh beat in it and its kinda jjust merzbow freestylin on it. so epic, but i can see why it wouldnt be included in the original.

girl mikayla in my music app group project asked if i liked shoegaze and i said yes so she said to check these guys out since she saw them last night.
its cool stuff, every song is pretty catchy and actually very varied, i didnt expect to be so engaged i was anticipating a very boring repetitive album but nope!

its good. very very creative songs here. so many sounds to explore. this is essentially pet sounds if it was released 40 years later. bluish is really nice, what i find lacking is truly beautiful choruses. it always seems like they teases these huge lovely choruses, but they never get there. i feel AC's experimentation inhibits them a bit. w/e

anyways, funeral today. apparently my uncle was jewish, which is kinda neat i guess, so thisll be a jewish funeral. never been to one so i was kinda intrigued to see what made it different from a regular one. nothing really, just some jewish customs that werent all too weird or anything. was my first time in a funeral procession. we also passed by this accident, but because of our procession we got right of way or something lmao. watched the burial, or some of it, and then we started heading back home. i ate some meat whicch im not too proud of but i was sad and hungry as fuck. listened to this to start my trip back home off.
its cool, not as good or memorable as calif or s/t. sometimes it feels like theyre just weird to be weird, i wish they also just had more cohesive or whathebrgh. i cannot write rn. yeah its cool, dont know if ill come back tho

went 2 dis show w gf and a close friend of ours. it was cool. they were opening for menzingers but friend had headache and we didnt care enough so we left after tj. culture abuse was also opening. god they sucked. the singer was drunk and high, he kept breaking equipment, his voice was awful, he poured beer all over himself???, but the crowd really liked him. kids kept getting on stage and stagediving, made the security guard pissed tf off. kinda cool the singer let some kids sing the lyrics i guess. idk real bad. drummer was tight

anyways wild ass show. first band im p sure was only playing bc venue needed like 20 extra minutes and they asked random people to play. they didnt have a name and it was just literally no wave shit., guitarist was just blasting a wall of noise, bassist was literalyl making fart sounds, drummer was some girl that clearly had never drummed before, and the singer just sang atonally and monotonously some lyrics she'd written. yeah thats cool. next band was this guy mr breakfast, some shoegaze thing. he apparently was suppoeed to have a whole band but he said no one wanted to do the show, so he just played some instrumental loops, did guitar bass or vocals over them, and some dude drummed to them. he covered the little boy swans song that was tight. SJ did an entire improv set and they ended with one actual song they wrote, was pretty tight, very funny to watch. band after was really bad lmao, a bunch of drunk musicians and instead of drums some dude used his launchpad. sounded awful. we left around there.

oh my god. before i dive into this, i guess my morning. it was alright, its colder than it was yesterday but the sun is shining bright, so i cant complain too much. took gf and her brother to school, was a bit late to class and i didnt get to finish our lab today but still had to turn it in. i need to show up on time more. god.
this is the quickest ive given a 5 to anything. there is so much to unpack here. truthfully, there are flaws, but this makes up for thhem in a lot of ways. this plays out like a movie, and its story is really important too. there is so much emotion and sincerity in this, its so sad, this was their last show and the singer died not long after this. the cover displays exactly how this feels, blissful and sad, truly the correct conclusion to this band. i havent listened to anything else byy them (other than the studio v of long season), but i can tell they were just some kids that wanted to play music and have fun. they wanted to spread joy and make everyone feel peaceful. i cried for the entire ending 10 minutes of long season here. it is so much better than the studio version, and is in my opinion, a perfect song. this apparently ended on him saying "goodbye" and walking away with tears in his eyes. god its so fucking sad. life is really awful.

I FORGOT 2 MENTION! my band rehearsed on friday and it was epic, we recorded a small ep and we are trying to cover air conditioned nightmare, me n our guitarist got it down we need our rhythm guitarist to do his parts doe.
this alvum is an enigma. took many many listens but i think i finally get it. first 5 tracks is one of the best stretches of music in history. for a while this was only 3.5 because i was just really confused by it. it def tanks after ars moriendi, the next 3 songs are just eh. last 2 are fantastic. retrovertigo is such a good song. def da best surf rock album ever

i forgot to do these over the weekend, so im going to condense them into one segment, since i also do not remember what happened when.
i had a pretty good birthday, i guess, i was curious to see how many people remembered. more than i expected which was nice. my mom got me donuts in the morning and i spent some time w my gf. i had to go to work at 10 which really sucked. listened to ParaDise LOVE Mix on the way there, felt nice. at work my boss bought me a drink, im not sure if he did because he knew it was my bday or just because he wanted to (he never outright said happy bday). w/e. didnt do too much work which was nice. later that night i got home and my gf bought me a plushie panda and a comfy (its like a wearable blanket) and i saw my friends and ate a cinnamon wheel (rlly good shit).
i didnt know what to listen to, so i put this on at work. oh my god. firstly, this is incredibly ahead of its time. secondly, it is VERY good. 21stCSM is a fucking classic, a perfect song, so amazing, i listened to it 10 fuckn times in a row. i talk to the wind is very good, very calm and very melodic, epitaph is also very good. i think moonchild is definitely the low point here, even tho its still good. idk just a bit uninteresting, the free improv section is very quiet and not very interactive. TCOTCK is the 2nd best song here, so fucking good, love it so much. highly rec this album, if u havent heard u need to.

ill admit, much of lolicore is low effort amen break placed on top of anime song, but this is just lazy. especially after waiting 3+ years, this is a big let down. there are only 6 songs, one of which was already released on a The Worst comp 2 years ago, and barely even 14 minutes of content. lazy lolicore is fine in massive quantities imo, so this really doesnt work. that said, its still actually good. first track sucks tbh, but track 3 and 5 are epic

pols i just looked at memes lmao. univ success we had a really awful guest speaker come in, he was nice just really sucked at speaking. his talk got better as he went but it was really boring, he kept going on tangents and we didnt really discuss much, kinda felt like he didnt really know why he was there.

mornin aight. woke up on time but got ready late, had to fuck with fixing my hair from last night which always sucks... so got to school a bit late but i only missed like a song so. took actual notes today haha.
listened to this otw to school cus i saw it on some shoegaze chart and it was near VDC. it was cool, i think it sounds way better than the concept of chiptune+shoegaze is on paper. i liked the electronic bits and the shoegaze bits are hard to fuck up. problem really is most songs are very similar, but there are still a couple standout moments.

didnt do much yesterday, had to skip last 2 classes to make it to this concert and get all my buds. our band released a new album last night, its got this funny concept where you can listened through every member's perspectives bc we all recorded with our phones hahAH.
saw them again this year! was just as good, well maybe not as good as last time, a bit funnier haha, they dedicated every song to mark cuban again. some girl kept yelling out stuff ab billionaires being evil and ruining america and it was really fucking annoying, like yeah ur right but this is kkb shtu the fuk up. i felt bad , there was a little girl there (no older than 12) and she was right by the moshpit, but these nice goth girls were helping protect her and her mom, it was very sweet. i tried to help but also was moshing so :P some annoying dude kept asking about my boris shirt and what metal i liked. my friend got a pic with jenny so im kinda pissed i missed that, and i missed getting any shit signed by them. maybe ill get em next time FUCK. they also covered some pantera somng haha OH and they played you know how it is so thtat was epic. a lot more generation stuff than i expected.

this has been in the ? for a while. i did NOT like it at all when i first listened to it. revisiting... didnt help too much. its better than i remember, but really a big let down. firstly, In and Out do nothing for the album. if ur gonna have an opening and closing instrumental, do something with it -_-
secondly, I Am The Sun is awful, i hate the constant fading out between "I am the sun"'s, completely ruins it. Also, why does almost every track have a fadeout??? i also just hate how short and repetitive some of these are, alcohol the seed would be cool if it was like 2 minutes longer or some shit. plus, that bonus live track fcking sucks

decided to skip music app, dont think i missed much, but our group got a google docs sorted out and we will be workinon it. it was planned to all hang today and do it but we dont really need to since we are all writing our own bits that dont need cohesion with eachother. was a bit late cus a train today.
decided to listen 2 this, the weather is nice again. this is a pretty good album, oscillates between 4 and 3.5. i never really understood why this was considered emo, there arent any introspective lyrics (they usually make no sense), and all the songs are very happy. but i think i got it today. i dont really know how to explain it, but this is emo. maybe the most unique emo record ive ever seen. some songs are a bit annoying, but i overall loved this. its really happy, very nice in the sun.

ok so firstly, it was raining the ENTIRE time and it was all OUTSIDE. GOD. so that was very unfun, but it was kinda cool, i was doing alright until we actually got to the locust, then i was fucking soaked. it was also freezing. my friend was a dumbass and wore a tshirt and shorts. idfk. the first band, mind reader, was alright. the second band tho, was really cool. this band Silent was like this really cool noise rock goth rock post punk shit. they sounded like daughhters at first but it was clear they werent. all mexican/spanish/hispanic idk members.
so the locust were fucking amazing. i dindt expect to know every fucking song but i did. i couldnt tell u the names of the songs but they were all familiar and i knew them. they also played 23lubedupschizos whihc is one of my favs from them so. gabe is a fucking nuts drummer. idk how they recreate their sound so perfectly. it literally just sounded like i was playing the studio album
there was also some drunk guy who kept yelling justin pearson's name and justin literally said "dude please shut up" it was hilarious. that guys an asshole, he kept running into this one couple and they got pissed off at him. i smashed my nose into someones back and it is bruised and hurt. its also hilarious moshing with ur hands in ur hoodie pocket.

so basically munky. had to wake up early and get ready early cus i needed to call stores and ask for pumpkins. last year my gf had a really bad halloween (we lost our costumes and didnt show up to a party cuus of it), so i want to make sure she has a good one this year. i waited too long to take her to the pumpkin patch and its going to rain tomorrow so we might not go, so i wanted to get some pumkins just incase ther are none if we do go to the patch. spent a while trying to find 2 nice ones for her, 2 incase she doesnt like one, but we can always go find more. was 15 min late to class cus of it tho, but its alright, i didnt miss anything.
didnt really know what to listen to, its rainy, foggy, cold, and bleak outside. so i decided this was probably good. still trying to find 2019 albums to contend for a top 10 spot. ths prob isnt up there. its good, both voicematrixes are amazing, noisematrix 1 and kraft-ebings are also pretty good. but i disagree with the one review that says theres no filler: noisematrix 2 is kinda bad. skippable for sure. ill have to go back to relisten and get a better opinion, but for now: vm2>nm1>vm1=ked>>>nm2. i didnt expect the vocals either, those were cool. guess thats where voicematrix's name comes from

got taco bell after our band thing, work has so far been really easy. ive been supervising or stuck behind customer service doing nothing. my friend's ex K was working today, she's really nice. she isnt really on good terms with our vocalist, and shes the ex of our guitarist, but when i told her about the band she seemed really intrigued and asked to hear it when i uploaded it. shes very sweet and shes stuck in a really bad spot right now. i hope things work out. shes going to move in with her sister soon! shes kinda homeless rn. shes moving as soon as she gets her license, so i hope she hops on that pretty quickly!

uhhh wild day today. had a super rushed morning, had a lot i needed to do driving-wise. had to get gf to her house from her dads, then needed to take friend to best buy, but still had to get gf across town to a party. luckily her mom took her to that so i didnt need to worry. then my friends had band practice. wow it went wildly. so usually its just the guitarist and vocalist, weve tried giving our vocalist a guitar but hes really really hard to write with. but he brought his guitar this time because he though thats what we were doing. well anyway i was just like lets just improv stuff. it was so much fun! we made a new band haha. im not completely embarrassed by it so i might link it later. we recorded about 52min of stuff and i put it on bandcamp. its cool!
so. was excited to see this cus its got some big names on it (xx, haru...thats it actually lol). it kinda sucks ahaha. im not a big fan of literally any other artist on here, and im not even a huge fan of haru. the xx track was cool, disappointing i guess. its just a xiu xiu song.

afterwards i had to do a lot of calc homework before my test so i went to the library and worked for a while, then at 330 i was at the nearby record store for my music app group project. we somehow managed to get most people on board with a single plan in a couple of minutes, we couldnt bring this one guy in our group, so hes the only guy to not go. i feel bad. i guess its whatever, karma for skipping so much class maybe. anyway the record store was fun, we all just looked for a bit, took a group photo, then we had to choose an album to do a collaborative paper over. no one really spoke up so i took my shot and recommended pet sounds by the beach boys. crazily enough, everyone was on board, so thats awesome! i already love the album so dis paper gon be EZ!

so this def isnt TBK or anything like that, but their streak of greatness has yet to stop. this isnt as like, meditative or soundscapey as the last 2 albums, its really just long songs, but it still slaps hard. it need wayyy more listens but i can say now: annaline, amnesia, title track, cathedrals, nub, its coming, what is this, and phantoms. bruh. so fucking good hoooly balls
gotta relisten to know if its worth that fat 4.5 but for now a nice 4.0 will do. still dont like hanging man too much, what is this wouldve been a much better single. fuck dude this is good.

this is a really cool album. my gf and i found it at a record store randomly and she bought it for me because she needed to get me a gift and i was super intrigued by it. its just really soft like, spacerock jamrock psychrock stuff. apparently this was a super group of psych artists and this was their only studio output. thats neat. one time my gf and i put this on and put in a blue lightbulb in my room and we went to sleep, when we woke up it felt like we were in space. its a nice experience of a record. first side is exactly what u expect, second is more ambient, more jam-ish.

the rain never let up.
so kinda ass end of the day. had fun at my gfs grandmas, we played with her little cousins. im glad they all like me. we did some colouring too which was fun :)
she had a driving class at 7 so i took her there. our band was supposed to practice during that, but our guitarist was being kind of stupid. idk i got kinda pissed a bit. i texted we should practice at 6:30 or 7 and he responded, so im like aight cool, our vocalist messages at 6:45 and is wondering whats happennig, i dont get a response until 7:20 and he apparently had no idea we were hanging out at all so he was seeing someone else. he misread the message is what he said. idk it was a bit disheartening. we had been planning this for like 3 days now. whatever. i got to play more risk of rain which was really fun.
listened to this while playing. its really good. i dont like a lot of jazz, when my friend plays it for me i actually get headaches lmao (sorry coltrane, ur shit is loud and abrassive). but this was fun and enjoyable, very cool stuff. didnt like the super long bass solo on the title track doe.

it was raining as fuck when i got to my brothers school. was really stupid, there wasnt any lightning but they wouldnt let any kids out because they saw it 25 min ago, and they need to wait 30 min before letting anyone out after they see lightning. had to wait in a long ass line to check my brother out from the library, then halfway into waiting they just released everyone. was waiting at the door for him, turns out he was at a different door because each door is separated by grade level. anyways i got soaked.

when i got home i took a long ass nap and then i decided to play risk of rain for the first time in a while. its a really fun game im glad im getting back into it its so comfy.
listened to most of this while doin that, and a bit on the way to get my brother. i dont really understand the hate for this. its really meditative and relaxing, and its really cool it all was done in a single take. i think the vocals sometimes suck, yeah, but overall its a really fun listen. i also love the cover and concept so maybe im biased.

saw this on an insanecore essentials chart and it looked cool, read about it a bit and saw that it had grindcore, sea shanties, and free jazz in its genres, so naturally i had to check it out

spent my evening with gf just doing nothing really. we got the impossible burgers from burger king (pretty good!) and then just layed in bed. she fell asleep and i went to go play risk of rain for the first time in a while. its really fun but i really suck. i might get back into it, idk ab getting the 2nd one tho. im really really nervous also because i had this speeding ticket i had to get taken care of. so basically i had to do defensive driving to keep it off my record, which i did, and i sent the completion form in to this attorney. got an email saying i have till oct22 to finish defensive driving and something something, im just worried that they didnt get my pdf and i had to do it again or not,.... guess ill have to call and ask. also really bummed. my girlfriend is upset about us being more like friends less like partners. idk...thats not a diary thing thats probably something i need to work out irl.......

its uhhh alright. his least purely lolicore oriented album ive heard thus far. as it is with all his other albums, only a handful of actual songs worth salvaging here, but there are also a bit of good purely breakcore/speedcore moments i enjoyed. highlights are 9000, speedcock, genpet, and colors. colors, btw, is mixed HILARIOUSLY quietly. also, made me laugh hard as fuck with the peaches sample.

continued my reading listening to this. good music to read to in this weather! good music for this weather in general. loved the opening track, was super cool. title track, too, was really good. i listened to the spotify version, which comes with the maria bonus track. i have to say, my fav track for sure, shouldve been on the original release 100%. i was watching a kid skate, he wasnt very good but i supported him, silently cheering him on since id been there too and i knew it was hard to start off. while this happened maria started and really kicked in. the combination of watching the kid, the desire to skate, the nostalgia i had, and the weather really hit me hard. it felt cinematic almost.

calc was easy. im trying to grind thru some homework since our next test is friday, and all homework is due before the test. got a bit to go...... had some leftover chips and pepsi. not much else happened. afterwards i decided to spend my hour and a half outside reading. im finally picking up my copy of The Divine Comedy again, its been so long since ive read thru any of it. i finally finished the first third of it, and im now onto purgatory. excited to continue! i the weather is so amazing i hope it stays like this and i get to keep reading in it. its very comfy. i had to switch benches halfway thru tho because i saw a bee and i dont like bee........

i listened to this during all of calc and some of my reading. its pretty good, not really what i expected based on cover and title. its still really dark and brooding like their other stuff, i was hoping for more hopeful, bright droning sections with some soaring guitars or something. idk thats what boris is ffor i guess. its good, some of the mixing is kinda butthole, the end of aurora comes WAY too fast, and i dont like how the last song ends either. 2nd song was saddening to me, because it sounded perfect for this weather, but i was trapped inside :(

good god. todays weather is amazing. i was going to do my usual and head to the class im in next, and just sit outside in the hall, but oh my god! the weather! its chilly but not windy so it doesnt suck and its so sunny out, it felt so good. i stayed outside during my offtime until my next class. i was so sad i had to go inside for it, i want to stay outside in that weather forever. i could end my life in that.
so i decided to go on a loli ripe marathon, then rank his stuff in a WTB. uh. damn. haha. i listened to this a while ago and came out with "it sucked". i wasnt wrong.
there are really like 3 or 4 actual songs here, and even then those are usually just mid. from tamil to you turn... are the only bits that really matter. dont really know why this is such an important lolicore release, probably because its LR and it was one of the first. giving this a 3.0 because some of the shitty meme tracks are still a bit enjoyable, there is some good speedcore/breakcore on here.

hhad an alright day after music app. pols was usual, univ success was usual, all usual day. got home and played a tooon of drums, was really happy no one else was home. i know no one i live with minds when i play, but i always feel bad for being so loud when anyone is home. played alot with that bass rhythm in No God Only Religion by Spiritualized.
finally decided to listen to this, was super excited. didnt listen to any singles prior, wanted to go in completely blind.
its good, but not as good as their s/t. the first 3 songs suck fat nuts, tbh. luckily, it picks up FAST on La Mala Ordina. they kind of just give into what theyve been hinting at for a while and just add actual harsh noise to their music, which is really cool. The Rita's verse is neat, just wish it transitioned better. i like that its at the end so i can skip it if i dont want to hear harsh noise. from then on the album is really strong, but not as strong as id hoped. tbh the opening to attunement couldve been its own song and i wouldve been ok with that. the last track is stupid, but its cool that that is already a composition they "performed". tbh didnt listen to it, but i dont think i really need to. the album kind of reminds me of Unclouded Sky, with the short interludes that are either field recordings or neat samples.

uhh today rad so far. last night was wild, huge fuckn storm came thru, the whole street was flooded and the power briefly went out. but the weather this morning was actually very niice, despite a bunch of trees having fallen over and some trash being spread around. i woke up really early cus i had to take my gf and her brother to school. her mom is very nice, she pays me 20 or 40dllrs every time i take them, which is really awesome. breakfast today was popcorn and water lmfao. i left a bit late so i was kinda late to class, but i didnt miss much. she played a really long rock piece for us, so i just missed that.
i listened to this a long time ago, but i didnt really pay attention so i decided to check it out again. its kinda eh. boring, but still cool. theres a lot of ideas that sound cool on paper but it kinda comes off too pretentious and too try-hard. vocals are meh, mixing suffers a lot sometimes, and there just isnt much to capture my attention. so, when i got to work this other employee was there. we were both confused. turns out we were swapped, she was doin somethin else and i was supposed to be where she was at. it was an easy morning, nothing really happened. we got 2 new checkout lanes at self checkout, which is really cool, but we also got rid of this handheld device we had. the handheld made it so i didnt have to walk to a machine anytime there was an issue, i could handle most of it on my handheld. but now that it was gone, it was really easy to miss something and make someone wait. the job got much harder, im kinda pissed tf off about it. also theres this stupid blue circle i have to stand on when im not doing anything. im never going to stand on it, simply because i dont give a fuck about it, and management can lick my ass. also some cleaning lady hit a shelf and fucked it up pretty bad, its on da verge of falling down and might hurt someone pretty bad so thats epic. i felt bad, the people fixing it most certainly were racist (shes hispanic) and were definitely making comments about it.
decided to listen to this. its actually really good. i agree w that one review, when you hear one you heard em all, but they each still have their own special charm to them. its a really comfy release and has really nice relaxing moments in it. all of the songs also sound super familiar, guessing since theyve probably been sampled and ive heard them elsewhere (ie that hsiu album). its good yeah. better than I, excited to hear II now.

so after music app happened (oh, i forgot to mention, ive been reading this simplified SCP manga recently a lot. my friend sent me it a while ago and i got thru a bit of it but the other day i picked it up again and im grinding pretty actively on it. its very cute and it isnt as scary as the actual entries, its also easier and more entertaining to digest than actual entries. read that in music app today and last night. heres the link if ur curious. anyways,) i went to the library, i was supposed to meet my friend carl there. there was a miscommunication and he went to some other place and blah blah it took some time to actually meet him, but then we went to my car and went to the nearby tacobell and just memed and caught up with eachother. i say caught up like i havent seen him in a yeaer, we just dont hang every week so when i do end up seeing him i have a lot to tell him ab and vice versa. spent the next hour or so there, then we went back to campus. we showed eachother music, he likes some sweet trip and aphex twin which is cool, and he showed me some neat classical stuff. we then went to my next class at 1:00. he isnt in the class but somehow managed to get in. during the class i read more and we worked on this imessage puzzle thing he sent.

morning was aight. woke up ON TIME for once. god. i left a bit late because my friend showed up to help my stepdad do some cooking and we talked for a bit. his car was broken into which really sucks for him but they only took his dongle lmao not his change or anything else. even though i left a bit late i still made it on time to school. this girl in my group mikayla showed up today which was wild. she apparently hasnt been for weeks, which is what i thought, but i couldnt tell if i could just never find her or if she really wasnt there. anyway im guessing she talked with our other group members but she told me we have our trip to the record store next friday, which is cool. still dont really know what the actual assignment is but sweet.
decided to chill out to this. its ok. really kinda boring but still relaxing i guess. not the worst, wish it was prettier and softer i think. that or make it louder, its at a weird crossroads of not too much but not too little.

i wayyyy overhyped this originally (used to be a 4.5). its very good, dont get me wrong. but its just like...firstly its hardly a screamo record imo. other than the screams, the lyrics are like not really emotionally driven, its just long convoluted poetry, as opposed to orchids "I wish I, I wish I, I wish I, I wish I, Could give you more than this, A safe lifer" with lots of mathy grindcore infused stuff and post rock thrown somewhere in there. their vocals are...shite. honestly sometimes bad. but sometimes so fucking good, and its so easy to jam to this shit cus they use so many blast beats. idk it feels really hollow sometimes too, they could really benefit from louder messier production and another guitarist or something, or better vocals lol. still really fucking good and genre defying and a huge landmark in posthardcore/screamo stuff.

because long season is only 30 smth minutes i had extra time to listen to other stuff and i was gonna get thru some vision creation newsun but i really wanted to hear this. originally i bought this for myself on vinyl when i went to austin but i felt bad my friend J couldnt come with us (this girl KM was there, they have a bad history...). he was originally gonna come but found out she was going (shes also dating our guitarist and his other only friend...) so he decided not to and i just felt really bad so i gifted the vinyl to him.
anyway he lsitened to it yesterday since it wasnt on youtube or anything and said it was REALLY cool, so i found it on soulseek and downloaded it to listen to later.
i agree! super cool stuff. i really like the cover too. i dont have much to say, i really like how dark the second track sounds, very ominous and brooding. first one is just wild kinda

so basically. poop and shit, haha. comp sci was neat we talked about arrays but i didnt listen. i played tetris and snake and worked on some calc homework.
listened to this since i wanted to go back to it and its kinda brain-shut-off music i dont really need to pay a huge ton of attention to while im in class. very good! def their best ive heard. first half > second half. it took the night is a hood classic. love the vocals on this too. wish the third song bled into the 4th tho.

just spent calc watching youtube videos. took some notes but also worked out on paper my xxwtb so far. spent my free time after working on some homework for pols and my cse lecture classes.
wow! ok so other than falling, ive never listened to a twin peaks song. but damn man, i dont even know if i need to. regardless of the show, this is a great fucking album. im sure it gets better after you see the show too! there are a lot of really good moments, and it showcases the bands BEST instrumentals EVER. unclouded sky worked very well using just jamie, this is like the antithesis of that, showing that even without jamie the band is strong as hell.

morning was cool. i woke up on time but it was kinda weird. i forgot to plug in my phone last night and i knew it was low so i was frantically looking for it, hate when that shit happens. i had to go to my girlfriends house cus i left my headphones there last night and then i had to get gas. bit of a side story: i have airpods, but my headphones are these like 15$ walmart over-the-head headphones. i have them because ive really damaged my ears over the years from excessive use of my airpods, or earbuds in general. i use my airpods more sparingly nowadays, and the sound on these headphones is just better, it also is nicer to listen to music louder because i hear less of the outside world and its more encompassing. my hearing is healing a bit i think, i get less headaches from listening to music.
i listened to this a long time ago, over a year i think now. im really just revisiting it to remind myself of it, for my XXWTB list. its really good, not sure if its a 4.0, there are more mehs than yehs, but the yehs hit reaaallly hard. maybe their most melodic work. idk its good. now i need to listen to twin peaks and the list can be made.

hm. after band prac i just spent the day with my gf. we chilled at home and then i had to take her to make a delivery with me. listened to this otw there and back. then we went to target and now we home eatin sgetti.
its good. i think all the songs kinda bleed into eachother too much and there isnt like any standalone moments, or any major ones at that. but still really good. a bit of a boring long album.

uh. idek. so ive never listened to nina simone, but i dont think you need to to understand this: jamie recites nina lyrics over re-imagined nina instrumentals. it...sometimes works. his vocal performances are really not that good here. theres a massive disconnect between him and the instrumentals (it sounds like they are each playing to themselves). there are good moments (see line women) but overall...really meh. cool to hear jazzxiu but they definitely can do better.
only one more album left until the XXWTB. also we did band practice today and that was really awesome. we are getting better at our set :)

nothing planned today in univ success class. this special needs girl showed us a campaign video she has, she's running for campus ambassador. i dont really know how to vote, if i figure it out ill drop her a vote. maybe. idk how qualified she is but im sure she can do a good job. it was hard to watch because shes very awkward but i still clapped because it takes a lot of effort to do that.
anyway because it was a free day i listened to this. its pretty good actually, i really love how seamlessly the tracks transition, the field recordings come out of nowhere and you dont even realize until the next song and ur like oh wait. even though its just jamie and a guitar (with some minor editing on the field recordings), its still really good. goes to show how good jamie is at writing music, even without his entourage and chaotic back instruments. i was also walking outside for a bit while this was on, its interesting listening to field recordings while being in, essentially, another field recording. its a cool overlapping that maybe i'll explore one day. i dont know how often ill revisit this, if i even will, but its still a good experience

today is an awful day. i woke up 10 minutes after i was supposed to have left, when i got in the shower the large rack that carries all of our shampoo conditioner shit just fucking fell. i was about to cry, i couldnt figure out how to put it back together. when i got out of the shower it was 9:30 and i just decided to completely miss music app because i was that pissed off. i ended up leaving at 10:20, so i was also going to be late to my pols class. sure enough, on the way there i get caught by a fucking train. i also didnt bring a hoodie so i was cold. but i foudn one in the back of my car so it worked out. was 15 min late to pols. hoping the rest of today goes alright. maybe ill do band practice. edit: band practice, also pols got out way early so... didnt even need to come to it lol.
anyway this album is realyl really fuckign good. i am kinda straying from my drone metal listening because i decided to get thru all of xiu xiu's solo studio albums to do a XX Worst to Best. i told myself id never listen to this because the cover fucking sucks and its rated super low, but damn i was wrong. this is one of my favourite xiuxiu albums ever. so fuckign good. a genuine attempt at pop music from them, it works so fucking well.

god damn. well. today was a lot worse than i expected. my important meeting was an interview i had at a tutoring place, i was hoping to get the job, ive done a lot of math work over my school career and id say im good at it. thats unfortunately not what they wanted, they need more bio and chem people. they said theyd call if any openings come up, i know that means “no”. it didnt get better when my girlfriend got upset at me at the store. to be fair i guess i was acting kind of wild. i dont know i was just feeling good and having fun. she got mad at me so i just stopped talking. she got mad at me that i stopped completely. idk. im a bit happy about getting my local files on spotify finally. finally some lolicore in my playlists! haha. i also had fun laughing my ass off at the new dunkey video today, i had to leave class for a bit because i was about to burst out laughing.
i listened to this on my way to the interview since its about the exact same length as the trip (short by a minute or two). its really good. i didnt expect to enjoy it as much as i did but there are plenty of really solid moments on here. hope they make new stuff soon (maybe they did and i havent checked)

calc. boring. as. always. spent the free 1.5hrs i have listening to this and some of my personal work, also doing some calc hw but i kept fucking up simple stuff and making typos so i got discouraged and stopped halfway thru.
this has been sitting in my queue for a bit, its something i needed to revisit for a long time. i listened to it last year and didnt have a definitive opinion on it until now.
this is a very weak xiu xiu album. honestly. firstly, the opening and closing tracks are far too long, shouldnt be more than a minute. it is littered with annoying melodies, weak lyrics, and boring attempts at synth punk. lawrence liquors is very very bad. that being said, this album has some of the BEST instrumentals xx has ever made. id honestly prefer an instrumental release of the album, i mightve enjoyed it more. also, the string of songs from el naco to the silver platter is INCREDIBLY good. and i dont just mean instrumentals. those 3 plus cinthya and some of botanica are exactly what i wished the majority of this were.

this album was NUTS! really cool stuff. i def need to go back and relisten but it was really pretty and super wild and very fun. its also raining today so that ups the mood for dis.

listened to this in my last hour. oh my god! so good! i havent heard the one before this, but i probably dont need to. every track (except one) has perfect fucking energy, love the bass on here, some seriously beautiful parts. i love their attempt at doing pop stuff, and the last track SLAPS HARD. my only issue, chippendale needs to stop singing haha. his voice is not the best and it kinda hurts songs sometimes, but they usually make it up with their instrumentation later on. he has some good vocal bits, his scream on one song is tight

school was pretty good. our assignment in music app is going to a record store and researching something, idrk i wasnt paying attention. in my success class i found my "true colour" personality type to be green, which sounded about right. introvert, works alone, critical analyzer, enjoys learning, that stuff.
ok so ive been very hesitant to listen to this ever since i first heard about it. firstly, i fucking hate the cover. i really do. one of the worst covers ive ever had the displeasure of laying my eyes on. this is relevant because i listen to music with the covers. its kinda weird, when i hear music i kind of...paint...in my head, and the album cover is the colour palette i use. it also is the mood and tone and atmosphere of these "paintings". this makes listening really fun because every song has its own identity and colour and painting (painting is a weird word to use, i dont literally make a picture, its kind of an ever-evolving constantly-morphing collage). but it also means i might dislike songs merely because i do not enjoy the cover. if the songs good enough, ill usually get over it.
so yeah, really hate this cover. i also really dont like post rock or math rock or spoken word. this album happens to be all 3 of those, and a landmark for the former 2. i also hate how much this is talked about, people praise this like people praise ok computer, which is fucking annoying.
so going into this i really didnt want to enjoy it. however, this is a good album. i didnt like the spoken word bits on breadcrumb, but they work well on don. nosferatu is good. don feels incomplete, it doesnt really go anywhere. washer was very good, and for dinner was eh. filler i guess. good morning captain is probably the highlight, its exactly what id hoped for when i heard everything else.

and so in a quest to find good shoegaze (of which ive found exactly 7 good songs in total) i decide to hear this.
before todays listen, i already heard the title track, and it is one of the 7 good shoegaze songs ever made. undeniable classic, love it.
i dont really like slow at all, his vocals are annoying and the sexual lyrics are offputting. shoegaze to me has always been an innocent, heartfelt longing romance. not really sexual or whatever. thorn is a good recovery, though it isnt great or anything. cigarette in your bed has a beautiful catchy ending, love it so much. last track is alright aswell.

work got easier as it went on. it got less busy (i think there are important football games today), and i got less headache. i was gonna stay till 7:40, since i got there at 11:40 (hour n 10 late), but i found out i was only scheduled till 6, so i left at 7:10. went home and fucked with my drums a bit. i bought a new snare yesterday since the one we were using literally just ripped open mid-song. i only payed 50$ so thats great, esp for a snare. it sounds awesome. i messed with my ride a bit too to try and make it sound nicer, didnt work too well but w/e.
so i listened to this at work after break. ok. i have a bit to say. to start my thesis on shoegaze off: shoegaze is great on paper for me. dreamy lush fuzzy guitars coked out in reverb, everything is hazy and blurry and theres tons of delay. ok but every fuckign shoegaze song album or artist i hear sucks huge fat fucking balls (not sweet trip, but they arent even really shoegaze cmon). this is my issue with shoegaze, is that no one who makes it can play it well. its all c+ attempts at doing exactly what youd want from the genre.
when i was first introduced to this genre, i heard "when you sleep". oh my fucking god, that song is beyond good. unbelievably beautiful in every way. the guitar is so excellently done, the melodies are so sad and hopeless, but they still have this shining optimism. the lyrics are so sincere and longing. "when i look at you, i dont know whats real". its perfect. it might be a fucking perfect song. this is exactly what i wanted from shoegaze. so now the album: a complete fucking flop expectations wise. for the longest time, no other song on here was worth revisiting for me, and even still i hesitate to hear anything else from here. this is a sloppy, hardly focused, usually annoying, always uninteresting album. in my recent listens, though, i have to give it to only shallow for being a bit good. its grown on me, but it certainly isnt when you sleep. loomer and touched are both filler, touched is a very annoying song also. to here knows when is boring as hell. i only said, come in alone, and blown a wish are also all filler to me. really boring stuff. i like sometimes, but its also not really something im going to often revisit. what you want is the closest to when you sleep thats here, but it really drags on which is unfortunate. soon is just alright. same situation as sometimes.
but now, revisiting it, i understand it more. ive been watching chris ott's series on shoegaze and its helped me open my mind to it a bit more. i do enjoy hearing kevin's guitars and blinda's vocals more, even if the album really blows. to put it better: i appreciate this album a lot, even if i dont like it.

wow. one of the assest mornings ive ever had haha. i usually work 2-10 on sundays, so i woke up at 8ish, at about 10ish i went to get gf from her house. at 10:47 i get a call from my work "hey are you on your way?" im confused and im like "uhhh i come in at 2?" well apparently i was due at 10:30. fuck. so here i am, in a rosas drive thru, in my pajamas, unshowered, my teeth arent even brushed yet, and i am 15 minutes late to my job. i ended up being a whole ass hour late. also p sure i got shortchanged today, which fucking sucks (i was anxious asf ab that) but honestly i cared less than i did ab being late.also hungry asf all day. but i got to have break w my friend from produce, we dont get to see eachother much anymore since he moved departments. im really hoping i get this job in tutoring i applied to, it would be so much fun.
uh so listened to this this morning. i didnt even know they had a 5th album (technically a compilation but cmon...its their 5th studio album). it uh... its alright. i think its better than danger days, there are moments that scream black-parade era and those moments are very good. but there are moments that feel like a mix of DD and BP and its just mcr on autopilot (not so good). actually, truthfully there is nothing here i actively dislike, but its very uninspired and drawn on, its a good thing they broke up. wouldnt want to further taint a great discography.

so i had a really good day actually. only got like 4.5 hrs of sleep so that sucks but i actually woke up on time for work at 5 and got to shower, got there on time too. it was a super good day, at 9 i got to help with setting up these shelves but it kinda sucked because im weak as hell and there was a lot of lifting i had to do. and i needed to use my gloves (im so glad i brought them) because all of the stuff we were moving was previously in the freezer. at 10:15 i just did a quick walk around the store to make everything look nice. then went on break at 10:30 and came back at 11:15 and got to do self check until i left. at like 1 some girl had me help w putting stickers on stuff which was fun.
then we did band rehearsal/recording. we did a lot of recording, there is a lot going into this next record. so far...recordings are awful haha they sound bad. we might have to redo a bunchh of these songs. but i got a new snare so thats super exciting, it sounds really good. so excited to use it more.
so i listened to a LOT OF sweet trip this morning (and recently). ive listened to this once and it was okay but i thought it was boring, but i decided to give it another try. holly crap its good. love a lot of songs here, hesitant to give it a 4 since it isnt like... SUUPER good but its a cut above any other albums.'

f. last night was cool, saw my friends/bandmates and we ate at whataburger. weve set out what our goal for the new album will be, we have a setlist and we plan on releasing an ep beforehand. we're trying a new formula, K and i will record the instrumentals with J's supervision (kinda) and then send them to him to overdub vocals on. we tried it on one song and it was really successful, so hopefully this works out. we also played a lot of minecraft and it was fun asf, we blew a bunch of shit up. i listened to VDC again while we did.
this was released last night but i didnt get to it until this morning. its good but not as good as the other single, im worried the rest of the albumwill be like this, or just alternate between this swans-autopilot/TBK outtakes and gothic country stuff and have no cohesion. its still a good song dont get me wrong, but it doesnt really go anywhere and it is just a TBK outtake.

yeah. yesterday didnt get much better. i found these old notes from 5th grade that i made on my ipod, and a bunch of stuff from then to 8th grade and i was having fun remembering all of it. friend picked me uo, took me home, went back, then i went home. i owe him a bit of money now since he drove so much but we had fun. our band is recording new stuff on saturday

hmm... so i spent my time while listening to talkies writing an essay for my success class, and my time afterwards watching the new ethoslab mc episode and the new 3blue1brown video on prime spirals. very good vids! did good on da essay too.
went to comp sci afterwards and worked on math homework, unfortunately got a pretty low grade :( hopefully i can bounce back
so this is being remastered and repressed, yall already know i got the vinyl and t-shirt, but i wasnt aware he had already released this single for the remaster.
its actually good. i know its like “how do you remaster static” but hear me out. some of the quieter and high pitched sounds that were originally muffled by the overbearing blasts and vvvv’s are farther forward into the mix, which is awesome, but they also not only kept the bass, but actually made it bassier. its a lot louder and glitchier which is really cool. im excited to hear the rest of the album like this, especially ultra marine blues.

this album is super good! hugely underrated, their poppiest yet!! first track is rlly a smiths song, theres some really cool indie/synth pop songs here and even a fucking country song. i think jamie lacks a bit at making catchy hooks but i still love them so its ok

ok so this isnt as impressive or as moving as mirror reaper was, and isnt as interactive as dopesmoker or emotional as flood, but good god damn was this good. had this cranked to max volume and it felt like i was floating in an ocean forever.
when it stopped i felt like i drowned from the silence. fucking nuts. first track is haha bbboooo second track is like ok yea... third track tho. thats where hell breaks loose man. third track is where they say fuck it and send u to the arctic. FUCKIGN GOOOD!!!!!!!!! the drums in the third track are fucking hilarious because they are barely even there, the guitar is so fucking loud. but i think its good theyre there, because it offers perspective. the music is so fucking loud no other instruments can compete.

i listened to this shit twice today. good god damn is this incredible. this is a landmark in musicianship, its unbelievable something so monolithic and encompassing as this can exist and be RECREATED live!! wow! the performance here is incredible. this isnt like dun dun dunnnn grrrr this is.... cinematic, as one rym reviewer points out. absolutely incredible, one of my fav metal albums of all time. some of the best vocals i have EVER heard. the 2nd listen was better than the first!

ok so, somehow...SOME FUCKING HOW our bannd got a last minute fucking gig for battle of the bands at OKTOBERFEST in one of the most populated and wealthiest cities in this area. DUDE WTF
the girl contacting us needed one more band to play and our guitarist was like uhh well im in this one band... and she said as long as the set was 15 minutes and there wasnt cursing we could play.
it went excellently basically. we played at 12pm. our set was fucking heinous to be honest. we have 2 sludge metal songs, a gerogerigegege cover, and our closer is tobuscus' diamond fuckign sword. oh my god. the looks on peoples faces was priceless. i also wore a doge shirt i got when i was 13. it sucks gf couldnt make it, but i dont think she really wanted to.
i also got my cd of cdr's 00's anison parade worst dx whatever its called. its cool, tthe cd is signed i think and it came with some poster cdr ripped out of a magazine. poster's got some anime magic girls bababa u know.
so i have a bit of a history with this album. i guess not really but w/e. i first saw this as someones header on youtube and i was like whoa... thats cool as fuck. i fell in love with the cover, and i soon found out what the album was. i wasnt really into music back then so i never looked into antyhgin about the album.
flash forward into last year when i started listenin to music and i was like oh wow this is an hour long metal album? cool i bet its really fun to listen to. i did not realize it was stoner metal. was upset and cringed.
well as of recently ive been listening to a lot of drone and doom and just generally slow metal (boris for example) so i was like fuckit. ima listen the whole thing.
i think its a really good album. definitely supposed to get high to it to enjoy it more i guess but its still enjoyable for me, a straight edge kid. love the solos especially. the vocals upset me at first but i actually really like them, they compliment the song really well. i also listened to this fucking thing 2 goddamn times in a day. wow
yeah overall really cool album, glad i waited till now to hear it all tho haha.

after band practice i saw this with my friends. it was really good! joaquin plays a very good joker. i thought it was a cool twist on his story too. dont really know why incels side w this so hard, there is hardly a love-subplot going on here. but yeah really awesome movie, loved it

truthfully not the only release i listened to. boris is finally putting stuff back on spotify, so i listened to feedbacker twice and akuma no uta. but i also listened to this.
worked a d umb 6-2, those always suck. the night before i talked with my girlfriend about how im feeling, how i feel stuck or hidden sometimes, and ab being sad. we almost broke up. it didnt make my day any better. luckily i got to see friends for a while and we did band practice.
this album is so fucking epic. so good. like no fucking bad tracks at all. this isnt even fuckn screamo btw like i dont see it at all. i mean i guess it is, but it like is the least screamo album ever. i guess he screams? its fucin good thats all tha t matter to me. only complaint is that repeat listens can get boring, but its always fucking awesome to come back to. what means... is so underrated

m. yeah it wasnt a super good day today.
i had to drive a delivery for my stepdad to some buttfuckc random town 30 min away. it was so weird, like every neighbourhood felt so disjointed and it felt like nothing belonged anywhere. all the roads were randomly placed and just didnt line up at all. overly large medians, 5 way intersections, TOO MANY ROUNDABOUTS. yeah it was so weird.
thats kind of how ifelt about this album. its good, dont get me wrong, but it felt very disjointed and all over the place. the opener is very good, and the second track is as well. but it wouldve been awesome if the first evolved into the second. they kind of just sit as standalone pieces which just feels weird. EVOL was good, the most fully realized song here. again though, uzume through in the pain(t) just doesnt feel right. good pieces i guess but its disappointing to not hear these strung together as one big piece. shadow of skulls opens promisingly but doesnt really go anywhere. but this isnt to say nothing here is bad, just disappointing. hopefully, if they make a new record, it looks to piece together ideas better.

mmmmmmmmmmm bad morning! didnt feel like going to music app but when i was getting ready to go to my next class at 1 i forgot i needed gas. i was rushing so fast good lord. but i made it with like a minute to spare so thats good.
listened to this on the way from school. really really good! i love her voice and the guitars. drummer is good too. i hope she has more heavy stuff like this, but i will still listen to her release from this year too.

ohMYGOD SO GOOD! saw these guys live todAY! they played with this band nosk (not on rym, rlly cute singer tho :3), who both opened for jeromes dream and gouge away. we did not stay for those two tho haha.
yeah really fucking good. they were all so angry and had so much presence and power it was surreal. they opened with a waka flocka song and they had a launchpad that would occasionally blast the fucking airhorn sound. VRY LOUD 2!!!! ears hurt.
nosk was good too! but they had like zero stage presence and everyone except the bassist (who really only rocked back and forth) just stood there and played. the guitarist fell over at the end tho. their set was also like 15 minutes long lmao.

its a good piece. i think its not as good as many of the other works on this comp, but its a good starting place. a bit overlooked but i can understand why. not too much else 2 say ab it

this is the one i was originally most excited to listen to. its the longest (at least mvt wise) and features interesting time sigs (3/8 for opening piece). its very good. better than pathetique but not the best here. i think this is much more cohesive and explorative than pathetique.

ok. this used to be my favourite piano piece, classical piece in general. but after some time...ive knocked it down a bit. its a great piece, dont get me wrong. but it seriously pales in comparison to much of beethovens better works. the cohesion is very very lacking, it goes from a very sad piece to...happy?? then angry? idk it doesnt fit at all. the beginning and ending mvts are incredibly great, but much like kesha's debut, this simply doesnt work as a whole piece. also, the last mvt falls short because it is very repetitive, something that isnt usual for B.
rating: 3.5 / 4.0, not sure...

ah. this one. absoltely beautiful. easily the best work on this comp, and possibly by beethoven himself. each movement successfully and nicely transition into eachother and they make a lot of sense and have a lot of cohesion. i find myself getting absolutely lost in every second of this.

wow. such fuckign ass morning. gf asked me to take her to school, im not really against that at all im fine with doing that. but i show up at 8 (her school is at 8:30) and she hasnt gotten dressed. at 8:15 she startes having a fucking panic attack breakdown because she cant wear any of her clothes because they are dirty. it got really bad, and i feel bad for her because her mental illnesses really debilitate her, but holy fuck i was pissed. just put some clothes on dude LETS GO. she ended up getting to school at...8:45. i got home at 8:53 and was pissed off as fuck that i was going to be so late.
listened to this on the way to school since loud n i was angry. i was gonna listen to another one but idk just wanted to hear this i guess, cover is cooler. its pretty good, not many bands match these guys' energy. i think what hurts it is the symphonic/power metal influences that take over certain songs, kinda cringe. still good tho

i been just listenin 2 deathgrips today. i decided to skate again, so i went to the local skate park by campus. it was super fun! i can ollie again, and im gaining control of the board again too. i was hopping over curbs and down stairs of 2. i forgot to drink water or eat though so i could only skate for 35 minutes before almost dying. when i got back to campus i got some chow mein and water. i also got a 94 on my first comp sci lab :)
so i relistened to this. yeah, really disappointing. easily their worst (not including the instrumental ones). i just dont really care for ride-less tracks that are just like...glitch stuff. there are lots of annoying bits and melodies too, it isnt like NLDW or TMS instrumentals. which is really unfortunate since the opener is a perfect song... but i guess its understandable, it was rushed and released moments after NLDW. still...

ended today strong. after i picked gf up from school and took her to work i saw some friends at the nearby pizza buffet. my best friend, K, is breaking up with his girlfriend soon i think. hes unhappy right now, and he likes someone else more. it sounds assholeish, but his real reason is his currnt gf's lack of success. she is struggling to be part of society and its taking a massive toll on him. i hope his next gf is good, i dont want him to get hurt like his last one (before current gf).
had this in the queue for too long. it was alright. it was very sporadic and crazy so that was cool, but i think it def drags on for a while and it loses direction pretty early on. duree 6 is really cool. the electronics on the trombone tracks are more interesting than the previous cello tracks. i dont know why they are all different tracks, tbh it wouldve been cool to just have a part 1: cello and part 2: trombone, i found the latter more interesting and it sucks we only got 3 of 17 tracks of it.

such a productive music day. listened thru this BAD BOY on the way home.
was super hyped for this release. ive never heard a merzbow improv set with actual instruments so i was curious what it would sound like. i also love brutalism and thhats the fukcing COVEr
it was realy really good. much better than i expected. first song is basically exactly what you think this should be: wild improv drumming, droney loud bassy distorted guitar, and a constant noise backdrop to fill in the silence between guitar and drums. its alright, mildly boring but it sets the album up for ya. become 2 is basically more of that, not really any more exploration. my big criticism of these first two is that merzbow is kind of far back in the mix, though i guess thats the point since he fills in the silence and adds an atmosphere for it, wouldve loved to see him get much louder though and have center stage oscillate between him and the guitarist. my favourite track is the third one. this is definitely the most diverse and interesting. its progressive, and actually gives exactly what i needed from the first two tracks to me. merzbow's contribution is much more apparent, though at the cost of the guitarists being less. on the last 2, the guitarist and merzbow kind of blend into one force, not really a bad thing i guess. there are some very genuinely beautiful moments on this track. track 4 is a good conclusion to the album, not too much else to say about it. the first 6 or whatever minutes sound like that one small bit in the intro of the song where the guitar is feedbacking and the drummer does a fill and slows tempo during it, then it goes quiet and the band bursts into action. but for 6 minutes. lmao so yeah really good stuff

this album is really good. a very unique emo album, not many live up to this image and this kind of sound. truly a defining moment for emo music. the production is quite literal shit but the beautiful guitar work makes up for it. cant count how many times parking lot and july have made me tear up

So the day went alright. Was a really chill day, after my class I got panda express (just chow mein tho cus vegetarian) and hung out with a friend. We went to our next class and then I went home. This album is really good. I agree with this one review, “this isn’t the next inalienable dreamless, but it’s the closest we got” which is true. Not as epic as their previous stuff but a solid comeback and def one of my fav grindcore releases, and one of my fav releases of the year. Not really sure why there are karaoke tracks included?? But whatever. Guess they don’t really take away from the album, label prob just needed them to to meet time constraints or smth. Would’ve been cool if acapella’s were also included but ya kno.

fuck man. taking break from sdre before i get to what i remember being their worst.
yesterday was alright btw, work didnt suck too much i got to work with some of my fav coworkers, ill call em M and A. M is cool, hes really young (like 16?) but hes fun to work with. we get along better than i do with his cousin who's my age. A is fun to work with, she makes it less dull, but outside of work shes hard to tolerate and i dont like her too much as a person. so work was good, i guess it makes up for missing class.
uh this aalbum was disappointing. they strayed away from their fast chaotic sound to just plain old metalcore. its boring, less mathy, still good though at some points. a couple bits were straight up unneseccary ( that first interlude track builds to nothing) and really cliche (the spoken word opening to last december). eh, wanted to see more firing squad.

jesus christ. im absolutely APALLED rym loves this album so much...how is this bolded but pink album isnt?!?!?! and this isnt even EMO!! idk i guess its kinda emo but not...primarily...fuck man.
sdre really falls off here. you can tell theyve lost their magic and they just want to make regular alt rock. so basically, theres a lot of awful parts. ok preface: its good. its not bad. but it isnt ANYWHERE as good as the last two albums.
pillars is good. its a departure from their original sound, but its still good. roses in water...its ok. disappointing to go from pillars to. album picks up a bit on every shining... but its still like. god its boring. two promises and 100 million are boring, the latter has some really stupid political lyrics about living off of money (no shit jeremy). title track was okay. and heres where i really lost it: prophet. WHAT HTE HELL! dude what the FUCK is the opening to this. it lasts like more than half the fucking song and the stupid chanting is so annoying and dumb. people have the fucking audacity to call this emo. the end is one of the best moments on the record - in sdre's discography! - but its completely ruined by the opening. if the opening lasted...mayeb 30 second... id be so happy. the ending is so good and it would be so cool to hear it build up and swell into a really intense chorus. but yeah fuck that song. "guitar and video games" is the worst song title of all time, this could be a fucking weezer song. the last 2 are just alt rock songs and pointless.

unfortunately, it was all downhill after diary. but there are good moments in their post-diary discog.
this guy was very good. i think its heavily underrated. its unfortunate that THIS is their s/t, diary mightve worked more as a self titled. but yeah, this is still really good. at first its offputting, its kind of a darker angrier diary, they experimented a lot more with song structure, lyricism, rhythm, and instrumentation which is really cool. songs dont hit as hard as they do on diary, but they still leave a lasting impression. they also got a lot sillier, song titles like "waffle" or "rodeo jones" kind of show that. also: the bonus songs are very good, most especially spade and parade. they work way better here than the bonus tracks on diary

so im gonna go off topic for a bit withh this. ab the artist vs the art. im aware these guys are most certainly nazis, or neonazis whatever. i dont really care at all. the other day when i listened to death in june my gf was like omG! they are NAZIS!!! ok...and? i definitely disagree with nazism, white supremacy, facism and all of that for sure. there isnt a doubt that those people are bad people. but unless im litrally listening to an album saying "be nazi nazi good" then i dont really care at all. this album especially, the songs are noise...anyone couldve made this...and thats most music tbh. anyone can make music, anyone couldve made sunny day real estates diary, music doesnt depend on the person writing it. and if it does...where does it draw the line? i like orchid, jayson is a communist, but the music is good...does he get a pass because the music is good? its hypocritical and stupid to be upset because an artist believes something his art isnt saying. obv, if the music's message is something you dont agree with, that makes sense, dont listen. but kanye west's discog doesnt contain ANYTHING ab maga or trump, dont know why his beliefs are an issue there. people praise hp lovecraft but his cat is literally named n****r man. anyway, onto the actual album

today ok so far. i uhhh woke up on time but was a bit rushed bc i spent some time doing music stuff before i got ready. didnt know what to listen to today, a lot of stuff i have queued is way longer than 40 minutes or is just fuckn noise music, so i put this on since it came out the other day and im suuper hyped to get the cd and to see the worst go back to releasing more lolicore
it was alright haha. maybe shouldntve bought the cd so quickly (tbh i dont actually care, worth it and its edition of 30 so like: rare 0.o). there are good moments, a lot of old school lolicore stuff. not his best works (see: love density off of the worst's downward spiral comp). but this is exciting for reasons already mentioned!

listened to this otw home, really good stuff. this is my girlfriends fav band, and this is her second fav album by them (first is pornog.). this is like my 3rd or 4th listen thru it but i wanted to get it done one more time to get my final definitive opinion on it, i always forget tracks n shit when i listen to it. its really good, i think towards the middle its a bit dull but yeah good. i dont love roberts voice but it compliments the music well and i can get over it. hes a great lyricist. so yeah good stuff, lovesong aand pictures of you always bring me to tears.

spent my free hour and a half working on my essay for my computer science lecture class. im actually a bit proud of it, its over george adelson-velsky, he did a lot for chess programming and data structures. it was oddly rewarding how quickly i wrote it, and it isnt even that bad. ive got quite a bit of sources too. i also feel self-conscious writing this out, my keyboard is so loud >-> and my stomach is too, im so hungry.
anyways, this was alright. there are good moments but i dont really like how little focus it has. then again, it is a collage kind of thing, but idk, not my style. props to an amazing album cover though.

for one: why split ananga ranga into 2 parts? completely unnecessary and it takes u out of the immersion. 2: why remove a track and replace it with outtakes??? "Last Splash" that takes up the original tracks spot isnt even that good, bad id say. dont get me wrong, this is a good record, but im baffled as to why these choices were made. im hoping the original is much better. the bonus tracks are alright

unbelievable! im so lazy, i put off doing these last entries untilNOW, late at night a day later.
at this point in time yesterday, i had just finished all of my math homework, and was starving. went to taco bell and had a good time there. talked a lot with claudia, im glad we are becoming better friends shes really cool and shes a very fascinating person!
this record is epic. not as good as brand new eyes of course, but it offers a lot more content to swallow. the opening to uhh the fast car one is like almost noise rock which is really cool and basically this is their most diverse and fully...for lack of better words fleshed out record. and i gotta say, future is quite the track. dont think we’ll ever see them experiment this much but this is still awesome! also: still into u is a perfect song.

this is incredible to be honest. crumb and kronos did a great job on their respective parts. i found this a long time ago when i was younger and i havent found it again until recently. maybe my favourite classical piece. love the incredible sounds that are somehow made by stringed instruments, and i love how eclectic it gets, even some woodwinds and chanting! there are also genuinely beautiful pieces placed here and there, most notable the opening of absence. anyways excellent stuff! may check out more crumb work

today. started horribly. god. ok i woke up on time i guess and my mom was like heres 20$ we need your car for groceries since theirs broke and im like alright thats fine. my friend asked to come over for a bit since he was skipping class so he did that too. the two of us ate and fixed up my drums, so now they sound...better haha. still shite but w/e. left around 10:20 so i was def gonna be late. im happy its going to rain today though. anyway i got to canpus and my dumbass was like hey why dont we try parking in a parking garage, and then there were NO spots on ANY floor. so i wasted 10 fuckin minutes and ended up parking where i always do. was late by 10 min to class, but i caught up nicely. i was also pissed because my dumb fucking music playjng app fucked w the tracklisting on this album so i had to relisten to bits of it.
anyways, onto the music. theres sooo much to say about this comp. i love it. like almost every song i love. its almost perfect, this album essentially defined my tastes for over an entire year when i first heard it. im so glad i own the cd box (which is f**ing awesome btw!!). ive kinda section the album off into different like...movements i guess. so ill run through it like that (ps: this could possibly be my largest entry ever)
tracks 1-19: first part
can i just say, the opening to this album is one of THE BEST album openers ive ever listened to. its so fuckin good, though the second half of it lacks a bit. but damn. that opener. god. anyways so these first 19 tracks are pretty good, its a slow start at first and it just kinda serves as an opener, gets u ready, u kno? what im really concerned with in these first 19 are the last 6 tracks. these 6 tracks make up the best section of the entire album. each one is so special and sweet and soft and beautifully made. i love it all. i used to hate 19 but its grown on me. its a shame this section was cut in half for the cd release.
tracks 20-28: second part
oh my god ok so somehow they decided to follow up what i said was the BEST PART OF THE ALBUM with what is absolutely the WORST part of this album. each song in this section is so unbearably annoying, no offense to any of the artists but i really dont like a single song here, EXCEPT Kill this creature in few seconds, that one is very good. i understand the effort put into these and i can see why someone would enjoy them but i simply cant. they all annoy me and i skip each one (except kill this...).
tracks 30-39: third part
so thankfully, gei comes in and saves us from that mess. guidelines was good, but it really picks up again on gei's track. anyway this section is kinda just ya know,,, section. not too much interesting happens here, but some really great breakcore tracks show up, notably 32, 33, 34, and 38. 38 being one of the longer, more emotional tracks on this compilation. lovely section, great save from the previous embarrassment part 2 was.
tracks 40-53: fourth part
weird, four parts, "fourth wave"... probably unintentional. so this last bit is really hardcore and epic everything is fast and loud and we get a couple true lolicore and mashcore tracks. Bukikomix is excellent, very well made. Killske amen edit is one of my all time favourites. mashcore bit from 47-51. The biggest highlight of this part though, i have to say, is the last track, the album closer, "Youre so warm". this is the most emotional, beautiful songs on this album and that ive ever heard. its an emotional ambient bit for some time, then explodes into breakcore fireworks. it ends on a fadeout, with some weird voice making weird noises. its a perfect closer to the album, and it wraps everything up.
this is absolutely my favourite compilation album of all time, i love so much of it.

eughh...this was a bit unsatisfying. idm at all the political/gender messages, thats awesome. but the songs leave a lot to be desired. guitars are wayyy too quiet, and i really dislike how offten the songs turn into like headbangy slow sections (that is unfortunately a common thing in a lot of screamo, really wish it wasnt such a cliche). the vocals have really dumb rhythms sometimes?? if that makes any sense. and thd guitars and drumbs just sound really disconnected. not bad i guess just...nothing super special worth coming back to. their full length sounded good though, so i may listen to that next.

huh. well i had to go to the library because i wanted to do math homework but none of the computer worked like at all...wasted ab 20 minutes just watching it log me on. eventually just shut it off and left. spent some time reading and the rest msging friends on discord. my book is good so far, getting into the techniques of mind torture.
this was a...pretty good album. im not huge into black metal, but i really enjoyed this. im not sure what to say i guess, its exactly what i expected but its still good. i was caught offguard by how far back the vocals and drums were, but i got over it pretty quick. the mixing actually adds quite a bit to this. for now, probably a 3.5 but this definitely warrants multiple listens. i can see it being a 4.0, so ill have to get back to you with that. really hate how dark 3.17 has like 3 minutes of fadeout. really dumb

haha ok ok so. first class was alright. we just did practice stuff for upcoming exam. on my way to my next class i have about 40 minutes of freetime, so i was researching star sept star and im like huh? i know this art and gerogerigegege is a band so i checked this out. 50 fucking songs 15 minutes, genius. this is actually surprisingly good, a lot of songs merge together and are just one song split up, but the longer ones are genuinely really good noisecore/grindcore. also found out singer is a girl??? drummer drums in just his underwear??? she plays bass not guitar??? such a confusing band... but so cool. my only real issue i guess is the first handful of songs do this stupid fade out fade in thing as some kind of transition between tracks and it honestly sounds so fucking dumb. but overall solid. different from revision of noise, but equally as good.

today started alright. woke up super early and finished some work i forgot about. was in a bit of a rush though, took too long showering.
listened to this and another thing on my ride to school today. this was...pretty good. i think that sometimes the vocals are mastered a but too loud, i had to turn up the album pretty high in order to hear the bass, and sometimes the drums were super far back in the mix. but overall, really really good. the previous issue i mentioned got better as the album went on. my only other problem was the pig-esque vocals at the beginning half. just not a big fan of them. they also appeared less and less the further it went.

put this on today while working on math homework since its so short and doesnt really require my full attention. definitely good! at first its kind of weird hearing noisecore without any guitars or like backing noise, just vocals and drums, but it settles in nicely a bit into the album. not too much to say i guess, obv gerogeri comparison just without the 1283 guitars wailing in the background. i think his voice definitely gets annoying at points, he does some really odd screams and just sounds dumb sometimes, but he probably is very tired since they are recording this shit for 8 minutes at a time and he goes thru like 832 songs idfk. i did find it funny there is technically a side A and B, its just mixed as one big recording.
i did listen to 2 other things today, didnt finish one, want a second shot at the other, so ill post those soon hopefully, but not today!

back on the music grind! finally coming off this horrendous sickness and getting into the groove of music listening again. today was okay, im in a group project in music app. where we go to a record store and write about an album or group we find (i think, wasnt paying too much attention haha). i was a bit late to work today though. i was really pissed off about that, i hate looking like an asshole when shit like that happens. it was only cus traffic was really rough tho. work also was alright, i didnt really do much today so. i also am finally catching up on very old homework i needed to do long time ago! haha
anyways i put this on on the way to school this morning. it was,,, underwhelming i guess. i havent listened to their stuff prior to this, but im sure this is a step up from it, but it was disappointing to hear this compared to vision creation newsun. there is more song structure on this album as opposed to vision, songs dont really leak into eachother and there is more structure and sometimes parts to a song. but i dont know, overall kind of lacking. it wasnt as captivating as vision and it wasnt as cohesive. songs flew across the place and didnt really know what they wanted to do. EYE also just didnt add much with his electronic post-production shit he usually does. most of the time it kind of took away from the song, especially on the opener. but, there were a lot of cool ideas and i enjoyed a good portion of it. its crazy to think they went from this into something SO much different and crazier.

unfortunately no listening today, since ive been sick i havent felt up to it. so i decided to mix it up and still make at least one post for today, ill talk about an artist instead of an album! i may keep doing this for future posts when i dont listen to anything.
ill be quick with my day: im sick, it sucks, work sucked, i only worked 4 hours so that was cool, i saw friends, now im going to bed.
what i really like a lot about boris is their subtle lack of a frontman. atsuo looks to be the frontman at first glance. hes got the makeup, and in live shows has the most stage presence. but he's also on the drums, which is the least frontman-position of any instrument. there's takeshi then, but he has maybe the least stage presence of them all, and is playing the bass, another very anti-frontman instrument. but he also has the most vocal parts, which would suggest him as their frontman. and lastly there's wata. wata seems to be their image, for example she is on the cover of feedbacker and she is the center of most social media posts. she also plays the guitar, which is the MOST frontman instrument in their band. i think that this lack of a frontman deal is really cool and adds a whole new dynamic. they all kind of cancel eachother out which is really cool so the attention isnt on someone more than anyone else.

today has been pretty uneventful. i got off work but because im sick ive just been sitting at home sleeping. i want to see friends but i feel really terrible so i dont think i will. i hope tomorrow gets better.

love this album so much. not a huuuge black metal or shoegaze fan but this album combines them in the best ways. every song except like windows is really good, even that uhh other one thats just an acoustic or whatevrr. i dont have much else to say i guess. dream house is one of the best songs of da decade maybe. i may check out their other stuff, i listened to some and didnt rlly like it so.

today is weird. for some reason at work today i am scheduled the exact same shift as someone else, so i really dont have anything to do. ive been helping around in other departments, and ive been trying really hard to stay off my own, so ive been really busy avoiding there. even now, i am writing this in the break room. theyve probably forgotten im working today at this point haha. i also am fuckn sick, which really sucks, i feel awful. but whatever. shift almost over.
anyways i listened to this this morning and...not my thing at all. i really dont like krautrock that much, but this sounds exactly how it looks. just some quality german jammin going on. i didnt care too much for it, but i may check out their other stuff just in case. i only listened to this because yamatsuka eye recommends it.

i also forgot to mention i spent a good amount of time this morning just researching yamatsuka eye/boredoms stuff. i will be tackling some of their discographies soon.
my only class today was a lecture class, so it was a bit uneventful. a lot of kids today played minecraft in class, they all really sucked at the game, especially one kid who built some really dumb looking wooden-glass cage house??? i dont know. afterwards i hung out with my friends at their dorm, we played lots of ping pong and they had some instruments so we jammed out a bit (not really, but i guess). im getting a lot better at ping pong everytime i play with them; my depth perception is really bad but im working on it so its becoming more fun to attempt to beat any of them. as for the jamming, my friend was playing on his guitar and i noodled with a drumpad. thats kind of about it for that. some girl complimented me for my goreshit shirt, she just said it was "super cute" (it has cirno on it, and reads "goreshit" beneath her), so im guessing she didnt read the bottom half.
we went to japanese culture society too. it was kind of fun, we played an "ice breaker" game, telephone charades, which was alright. we learned a bit about the japanese holiday otsukimi, which is moon watching or something, and about the japanese character tsukimi, which means moon. its 15$ for a membership there, i may get it but idk im really broke.
i listened to this on the way home from school today. ill also start off with: i am not a big sonic youth fan.
the album was alright. i like the cover a lot, and i absolutely love their guitar work on most songs. their drummer is super tight too and i like how nice his drums sound. what really bugs me about them is kim's vocals, and to an extent, thurston's too. i dont mind kim's spoken word shit she does, but it gets old because its all that she does. take tunic, this song is really awesome, but id actually consider revisiting it if kim sung the chorus, or did any singing at all to be honest. id really love to hear how well she can sing but thats a dream i guess. thurston gets very whiny and annoying too on a couple tracks. that being said about kim, though, i thought kool thing was the best track on here. maybe on that one the spoken word thing works. overall pretty good, but idk, SY is just meh to me. not sure if ill check out any of their other stuff or not.

slow day for music today, and in general i guess. i woke up late today, so i decided to just miss my music appreciation class. we probably went over guitars or something and listened to the beatles, so i didnt miss much maybe. decided to spend the day cleaning my room instead, which was nice. it helps improve my mental state when my room or my car is clean or organized, makes me happier and its nice to look at and feel good about myself, like "hey, i did that" kinda. was gonna practice drums, but stepdad was still home so i didnt want to bother him. i did have a class today, but it was at 1, so i didnt leave until 12.
i listened to this on the way there. it was pretty good, i started listening to charli not too long ago so its nice that i get a new release after discovering her stuff so soon. but i dont think this at all compares to pop 2. there are really awesome moments throughout this, but i think that theres a lot more padding, and less energy or...i dont know the right word...character? to this. im not sure. a lot of songs are just electropop songs, nothing more nothing less. its a bit disappointing when compared to pop 2, but most things are i guess so. the only song i truly couldnt stand was shake it, found it unbearable. every other song tho was at least alright. i hope she ventures more into unorthodox production and song structure stuff in the future, something like a heavier hitting pop 2 would be amazing.

this album is. very good. really unique. my favourite idm album and shoegaze album for sure. too many good parts, i love all of it. i feel super comfy and at home when i play minecraft while listening to this too. i should say more, but everyones said a lot ab this album already as it is so. though the ending isnt my least fav, i found it a bit redundant. redundant as in reused ideas from other songs. all the songs sound really unique but this one is kinda similar to all of them

the day went really well! i was apparently a winner at a vending machine today, so when i put in the 1.50 it said “winner!” and i got all my money back + the poptart i ordered. i also read some of my book, “the rape of the mind” so thats cool too. and i had a ton of time to kill, so i also finally finished editing a vlog i recorded with my friends when we went to austin over the summer (almost finished, gotta add music).
this album was pretty good. lots of really awesome songs and ideas, but i think its too all over the place, and it usually will lose its focus. like a drug is suuuper good, and its nice to hear jarboe’s pretty voice on some cuts, but this doesnt even compare to later albums where gira had much more of an idea of what he wanted.
now for the long drive home...

well, like i said. id listen to this. today has been okay. i woke up on time for once, and i was able to go get my car vacuumed at a car wash place nearby for free. im still a bit sad.
this album was alright. better than i expected, but idk the whole time i was just thinking of better ways to arrange the tracks so it didnt suck balls. for one, after 70cm, the album tanks HARD during the worst 2 songs on it, and then kinda picks back up. the last song was kinda balls too. 70cm would be a really good closing traxk, but it works well after that small interlude. the second to last track would also work really well as a closer, and i thought it was, so i was a bit disappointed when i found out it wasnt. back to rainy and track 9, tho, yeah those sucked. rainy has this dumbass jcore opening thing and a stupid chorus, track 9 is a bit better with a stronger chorus but it also has stupid lalala’s in it that annoy me. the uhh second or third to last song has a nice chord progression that reminds me of dream house by deafheaven. overall it was cool, a bit cringey sometimes but the language barrier helps me get over it bc i dont really process the probably-dumb lyrics

well i technically listened to this a bunch yesterday but im doing the entry now, so. im really fucking sad. all of my friends hate me. im a fucking burden i guess, im too harsh to everyone im close to but sometimes theyre really harsh to me i dont know what i do wrong. i dont want to talk about music with them anymore. maybe i wont. i dont know. they always attack me when i bring up an artist i like and they dont but then theyre mad at me for being so antagonizing when i dont like an artist they do. im just going to go neutral. ill listen and respond. i wont offer my own topics of discussion to the table. the weezer song is really good, too.

love dis one. was listening to it on vinyl today while working on some stuff. there really isnt a bad track, maybe a single point where i get uninterested but that doesnt really take away from it at all. love all of it. too much i could say about it. i guess its one of the weaker of my 5s, like if i rated my love for each one this'd be at the end of the spectrum, still a lot though so that isnt saying much.

bumped the HELL out of this on the way home from school today. had a good day too, despite being late to music appreciation. my pols teacher cancelled our class on friday so thats cool and i learned a lot about what i can do with a math major so im excited to keep pursuing that.
god this record is so good. there is like one single song i would consider skipping, only because its literally just a random ambient whatever track. cant name another record of this style thats as consistent and hard hitting as this. SO FUCKINGGOOD

today is kinda ass so far. woke up late so i havent showered and halfway on the way to school i realized i was almost enpty on gas, so i was a bit late to class. got a 95 on my exam last week though so thats good :) (music appreciation btw).
listened to this on the way to school, too. idk it was alright. i wasnt like whoooaaa but there were parts i enjoyed. the opening to corridor reminds me of cell-scape melt banana, and the wailing on aging with dignity was funny. bones was cool, made me chuckle. but i mean, idk someone else reviewed it and said it gets old fast, which i agree with. im not a big instrumental math rock kinda guy, but this is a p important math rock release so if u are, listen to it

this was VERY good! i prefer it to pink honestly. the intro its alright, but this album takes off!! on the next track. the energy is huge and it carries over to the next track really well. the star of the album is probably the really big naki kyoku, its really cool and its almost progressive metal-ish. super good. it kinda slows down a bit though on ano onna no onryou, its an alrightish track. last track is a good closer.

i also listened to this today. i reeaaaally love this record, probably my favourite breakcore album ever. too much to say about it, really. the original semantics ep is so great already, and he came back with an almost better full length. almost every song is perfect, i think it really only lacks in the beginning after burn this moment... during the next two tracks, but honestly those are so good still that it doesnt matter. was gonna do a thing for each one of them but i decided just to condense it

today went alright! i wanted to make a post earlier but ive been really busy today so i didnt get a chance, so im gonna gauntlet style post real quick. had a good time in calculus today. since ive already taken the course before, i knew all about our topic today (continuity). i usually do, but today was extra boring since our only notes were just some definitions and theorems. i watched a big video about the TAS 4:20.77 speedrun of sm64, it was really cool
anyway i listened to this today because i made a new friend whos huge into goreshit, and ive been meaning to relisten to it anyway. its pretty good, i think it has some low points (根！お兄ちゃん！) but its usually pretty solid. i dont like the digipak much, it joints this with a much lesser ep (but the inclusion of "a flat chest is fine, too" is great). overall, not too bad, he has better releases though

i feel so weird making 7 different entries in one day -.- maybe thatll be a norm idk. anyway today was really long, like i predicted. work really sucked, was really hungry and my break was kinda late. i also left late so i got a bit scolded for being 5 min late. guhhh and every customer was being really stupid and just everything kinda upset me today. i had two lunchables for break, and even though i was supposed to only take a 15 i decided to take a 30, no one really got onto me for it. had to do a lot of physical work outside afterwards, so it evens out i guess.
anyway, listened to this for the last hour and some of my shift. i listened to it once before while playing minecraft and it was really really good, but i decided to listen again since its been so long. i think i still prefer Boris At Last, but this is a close second. Flood 3 is such a beautiful song, its a really good mix of prettiness and sludginess, and takeshi has really pleasing vocals. idk, i guess its weird that each song is its own actual song, but they are all supposed to be one big song. in BaL-F-, they are really all one song, and they arent individual tracks that kinda mesh. idk, not a bad thing i guess but i just prefer boris at last.

haha holy shit this was fun. this is obviously just someone having way too much fun with a really shitty midi whatever and the ability to scream. i love it tbh. so many fun moments. i might bump the rating up later but for now ill keep it how it is, definitely need to listen more.
i really like the descent into ridiculousness this goes through. the opening bits are pretty straight forward amateur midi stuff and some screams every measure. it slowly picks up pace (literally, the BPM of most songs is faster) and gets more hilarious. theres a surprising amount of really catchy bass lines and synth stuff going on, and it gets very hectic, crowded, and mathy at times too. towards the end its kinda obvious they were running out of ideas, but they got really creative inviting more than one vocalist in (i think, or they experimented with different ways to scream and im stupid). idk overall really cool release for anyone in their post-scene phase that has a sense of humour. also, bonus points for that one very beautiful clean section on one of the last songs.

i really wanted flood to be my last post for today but i had a huge amount of free time at work so i listened to this and another thing album to pass about 40 minutes by.
this was...very interesting. not at all what i expected, but not in the least bit surprised. i knew about 8 songs on the mix and i could not recognize ANY of them except the 100 gec songs because they are literally just the vocal lines. idk it blew me away but i guess i was a bit disappointed that i didnt actually hear 100 gecs mixed with radiohead haha
i love valyri's body of work... its all really great. also found out for the first time its spelled v-a-l-y-r-i not v-a-l-r-y-i so im fucking stupid *-*

on the way home from school listened to this. it was alright. i guess same situation as Mother Earth's plantasia, im just not really into this release's genre. not a big doom metal or whatever it is kinda guy. i didnt like the vocals all that much, but the guitar work was cool on a couple songs. liked the solo at the end of destiny.
i hopefully can listen to all of flood during my last hour of work tonight.

the other album i listened to on my way to school. im not huge into emo as i used to be but this is very good. its got some good emo cliches and ditches a lot of the cliches i find revolting. it doesnt have needlessly complex lyrical bits, it keeps up a lot of energy and mixes mathy bits with very catchy bits really well, and it isnt overly complex for complexity sake. this record is just right!
i think ill listen to more goreshit today or tomorrow. or maybe embark on another no wave album

today started alright. had to take gf to her school, i headed back home after and ate a burrito. on my way out of my neighbourhood i almost got in a wreck though. that really sucked. i didnt see this truck coming and he was (rightfully) pretty pissed off at me. oh well.
listened to this and another album on the way to school today. it was alright, helped calm me down from the near-accident i had. i think it just isnt really my kind of music, but that swingin’ song was really cool. made me think of a funny doge meme with haha music in the background, or some beat someone would mashup with a trendy rap song’s vocals

i am going off of like 4 hours of sleep rn and i have such a long day ahead of me :( but this is so amazing to wake up to. the synths(?) or whatever the hell this band uses for instrumentals sound so fucking good and her voice is beautiful and so nice. this is gonna hopefully be more generation stuff but better sounding which will be EPIC

i also relistened to this today. this is genuinely one of my favourite records of all time. the pacing is really good and i really dont find any flaws in this, other than maybe the last two tracks drag on a tad bit. wata's soloing is so beautiful, and takeshi's vocals have never sounded better. track 3 is the climax, but i think track 2 is probably my favourite. i will be listening to flood again soon, its been a long time since i heard that one. hopefully i can get this one on CD

my first entry in this. hope i keep up with this to lo0k back on it many months from now.
today really sucked. work was awful, had a couple people not show up and i got my break really late. saw my friends afterwards though which was fun. some dude came in today and asked me to join some pyramid scheme and i just kinda ignored him.
i was able to listen to this album 2 or 3 times today. i heard it a long time ago and really hated it, but i rediscovered it recently and decided to give it another go. its a really fucking good album. im still not really sure what eYe does in the band other than vocals, so i dont really know why he's the frontman but whatever. i think the latter half definitely lacks compared to the first, but it is still really cool. star is legitamitely such a beautiful track, i wish there was like an hour version of it so i could drift into nonexistence listening to it. the solo at the end of spiral is also really fucking beautiful. i might listen to more of their music but im too in love with this to switch to something else.
